In this daily Bible reading Jesus tells the people, “The world hates Me because I testify of it that its deeds are evil.” If I truly follow Jesus Christ, the world will hate me. I should expect this and have the courage of my convictions. I must never shrink back from speaking Truth or standing against evil. However, I must be wise in so doing-especially in my own family.
The Bible says, “By wisdom a house is built; by understanding it is established, and through knowledge are its rooms filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Therefore, I must speak God’s truth with gentleness and at opportune times. However, my family must always know what I believe and where I stand on worldly issues.
My life should reflect my belief in Jesus, who is the ‘Living Word of God.’ Therefore the Bible should guide my choices and decisions. I should not be argumentative when I am criticized for my belief in Jesus. Rather I should gently voice my view on the issue at hand. That may provoke anger. However, I should not respond with anger.
It is not easy to believe in Jesus and live in a world that does not believe in Jesus. However, we must persevere and endure in our Faith. The Bible says, ‘Those who endure to the end will be saved.’ We should therefore keep our focus on the reward for our endurance, Heaven.
