In this daily Bible reading the Prophet Joel speaks of the coming Day of the Lord. A day is coming very soon when the spiritual control of the Earth will be transferred to Jesus Christ.
The Bible says that Satan is the spiritual ruler of the Earth. At some time in the distant past, God gave Satan spiritual control of the Earth. He was given the freedom to influence mankind, and Satan’s goal is to turn people away from worshiping God. He has been quite effective at doing this.
About 2000 years ago God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, into the world to present the world with God’s Truth. The world rejected Jesus and put Him to death. That was God’s plan. Jesus’ death and shed blood atoned for the sins of those who would believe in Him.
Some people did believe in Jesus, and God has given mankind written testimony of Jesus’ life and teaching. God’s Word was given to mankind in the form of the Bible so that those who believe in Jesus Christ can be guided and grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Bible tells us about Jesus and guides us in our daily life. However, we must choose to believe the Bible to be true, even in the face of the world’s resistance to Jesus Christ. Satan is still influencing the world, but his days are numbered. Soon, very soon, Jesus will return and rule the Earth.
