In this daily Bible reading Job speaks of wisdom and understanding. He says that man knows where to find gold and silver. However, he does not know how to find wisdom and understanding. Wisdom and understanding are found through belief in God.
In a profound statement Job said, “The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” Indeed, the Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
What is wisdom? I believe it is knowing how to approach life. It is knowing the right things to say. It is knowing the right things to do.
What is understanding? I believe understanding is having the correct worldview. It is having a correct perception of what is happening around us. It is knowing that God created everything and is in control.
The Bible says, “By wisdom a house is built; through understanding it is established; and through knowledge are its rooms filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
A person with wisdom and understanding has a solid life with a solid foundation. God blesses this person because this person lives rightly before God. Therefore, we should desire wisdom and understanding more than gold and silver or any material thing.
