In this daily Bible reading Jeremiah prophesies about the future destruction of Moab, Ammon, and Edom. Moab and Ammon descended from Abraham’s nephew, Lot. Edom descended from Jacob’s brother, Esau. All were related to Abraham. God intended to destroy these nations for their arrogance toward God and Israel.
Ammon and Moab worshiped their own spiritual deities. Moab worshiped a fallen angel named Chemosh. Ammon worshiped one called Malcam. Jeremiah prophesied that God would send these demons into exile with their priests.
The Bible says that Satan and a third of all of the angels that God created turned from God in the distant past. Satan rebelled against God. As a result, God banished Satan and his fallen angels called demons to the Earth. Satan and his demons have been allowed to influence mankind. Unfortunately Satan’s goal is to turn people away from God through Satan’s deceptive means.
The Bible says that when Jesus returns to rule the earth, Satan will be removed from the Earth and placed into exile. Jeremiah’s prophecy indicated the demons will be removed as well and held for 1000 years until God’s final judgment.
I believe that God’s desire is to turn the hearts of men to Him and to identify those who are truly loyal to God. This process is happening today. However, Satan has freedom to deceive the masses. Satan has been very effective in his goal. Most of the world has turned away from God. However, there are a few that remain loyal to God and serve Him.
