In this daily Bible reading God speaks through Hosea saying, “I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” By these words God is saying that He does not want people to worship Him with rituals and motions that are not from the heart. Religion tends to lapse into just going through the motions. Many people think that by going to church and doing ritualistic activities they are pleasing God.
The Bible says that God wants His people to worship Him in ‘Spirit and in Truth’. He therefore wants people to know the Truth. He wants people to be anchored in the Word of God, the Bible. Only then will they know how to worship God.
The Bible says that when we believe in Jesus Christ, we are given God’s Holy Spirit who will dwell within us. The Holy Spirit will guide us in worshiping God. The Holy Spirit will teach us God’s Truths through God’s Word, the Bible. When we have the Holy Spirit of God, then we will worship God in ‘Spirit and in Truth.’ Our hearts will then be aligned with God. God will then hear and answer our prayers and guide us during our life here on Earth. More importantly, He will guide us to that small door that leads to Heaven.
