In this daily Bible reading Hosea continues to prophesy the future destruction of Israel. Israel had turned away from God and stopped living according to God’s Commandments. Israel no longer knew God, nor did they seek Him, even though they performed rituals. God through Hosea said, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you.”
This is true of America today. When America was created in the late 1700s. God was very much part of American life. America’s leaders worshipped God and read the Bible. The Bible was important in America and was at the foundation of our governmental structure. This is evidenced by the inscription on our coins which says, “In God We Trust.”
With this foundation, America was blessed and prospered and became the greatest nation in the world. However, over the years this foundation has eroded. The Bible is no longer viewed by our government as a foundational book.
In 1962 the Supreme Court of United States removed prayer from our schools. With this act America formally turned away from God. Since that decision, America’s moral decay has accelerated. The Bible indicates that God will judge America for its transgressions against God. I believe this will happen very soon.
