In this daily Bible reading God has carried Ezekiel in spirit to Jerusalem from Babylon where Ezekiel was in exile with other Jews. God showed Ezekiel the religious leaders of Jerusalem worshiping idols, having turned from God. He told Ezekiel of God’s coming judgment on the inhabitants of Jerusalem. God also indicated that those who were already exiled to Babylon would not share in the coming judgment.
It appears that God removed those who were still worthy of saving so they wouldn’t share in the coming pain and misery. God is also separating out a people for Himself today, a people who will be saved from eternal damnation in Hell. Who are these people? They are those who believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus embodies God’s plan for the Salvation of mankind.
Most people think this plan doesn’t make sense. It is not logical. However, it is God’s plan. We must believe it in order to avoid going to Hell where there will be eternal suffering and pain.
Believing in Jesus is not merely an intellectual assent of who He is. Satan and his demons know who Jesus is, but they are condemned to Hell. Belief in Jesus involves our trust. We must trust Jesus to guide us in our lives. However, we must first give up or turn from the sins in our lives. This is very difficult to do. However, If we truly trust Jesus, He will help us to repent or give up our sins. He will also guide us in living our lives through God’s Word, the Bible.
