In this daily Bible reading is the account of Israel constructing the Tabernacle and all the instruments of worship commanded by God. The people had brought the necessary materials out of Egypt with them: wood, cloth, gold, silver, bronze, and jewels. God then stirred the hearts of the people to give these materials for the Tabernacle and priestly vestments. God also endowed certain people with the skills necessary to do the workmanship of construction and fabrication.
The Bible says that God endows believers with certain abilities. These are characterized as “Gifts of the Holy Spirit.” Among these gifts are leadership, teaching, prophecy, giving, and encouragement. God gives believers these gifts to sustain and edify the ‘body of believers’ that the Bible calls the Church.
We as believers all called to use our gifts for the benefit of Jesus’ Church. We are not to be idle. Believers are given an awareness of their gifts, and God gives believers opportunities to use these gifts at appropriate times. We therefore should be ready to act when those opportunities occur and contribute our part to the ‘body of believers.’
