In this daily Bible reading is the account of God instructing Moses in consecrating Aaron and Aaron’s sons to be priests before God. They were to be properly attired and given specific guidance on how to do their priestly duties.
God desired to dwell among the people of Israel. However, they had to conduct themselves in a manner that would be acceptable to God. The priests were to be holy in their behavior and represent the people before God. They would offer sacrifices for the sins committed by the people, so that God would not depart from them.
The people would be required to live according to the laws that God gave Moses. God required order and proper behavior, or He would not dwell with the people. So, it is today. God will not dwell with people unless they live properly before Him. He will not tolerate sin or look the other way. The Bible is clear. If we want to enjoy fellowship with God and enjoy His blessings, we must avoid sin in our lives.
