In this daily Bible reading God instructs Moses to make priestly garments for his brother, Aaron. Aaron was to be the priest who would represent Israel before God. He would be the only person allowed to enter the Most Holy section of the Tabernacle to offer sacrifices before God: sacrifices to atone for the sins of Israel.
On Aaron’s garment were two shoulder stones of Onyx with the names of all 12 tribes of Israel. Aaron also had a breastplate with 12 separate jewels to represent the 12 tribes of Israel. They were precious jewels, and God viewed the 12 tribes of Israel as precious to Him. Israel was chosen out of all peoples on the Earth to be close to God. They were indeed God’s chosen people. And they still are today. Even though Israel rejected God on many occasions and even killed God’s son, Jesus, God still sees Israel as His chosen people.
Throughout the ages God has severely chastised Israel for their sins and even removed them from the land. However, the Bible say that God will restore them to the land, and they will be His people and be dedicated to Him.
They are not yet fully restored to God. However, God is returning them to the land. When Jesus comes back, Israel will realize that He is indeed the Christ, the Messiah they rejected. Then, Israel will be fully restored to God.
