In this daily Bible reading Moses continues to instruct the people on how they are to conduct themselves in the land they will occupy. Moses reiterated they are God’s chosen people out of all the Earth. As such they were to obey God’s commands and worship Him. If they did so they would prosper and live long in the land. However, if they did not obey God, God would remove them from the land and scatter them among the nations.
Indeed, that is precisely what happened. In 722 BC Assyria conquered the 10 northern tribes and removed them from the land. They never returned. In 587 BC the Babylonians conquered the southern tribe of Judah. 70 years later Judah returned to Israel. However, in 132 A.D. Rome removed them from the land.
The Bible says that God will one day restore Israel. In 1948 Israel once again became a nation. Many Jews are returning to Israel from around the world. The Bible says that Jesus will return to be their King. I believe this will happen in the not-too-distant future.
