In this continuation of Psalm 119, the Psalmist asks God for the following: “Open my eyes that I may behold wonderful things from Thy Law.” The Psalmist also writes, “Teach me Thy statutes, make me understand the way of Thy precepts, so I will meditate on Thy wonders.”
The Word of God, the Bible, is an amazing God-inspired book. It is multilayered in its messages to us. It is both simple and complex. Some parts of the Bible are difficult to understand, whereas other parts seem very easy to understand. I don’t believe we can really understand the Bible without God’s help. We need God to guide us. We need God to open our eyes to His Truths.
I have read the Bible multiple times. Each time I read it I learn something new. God helps me to understand the Bible incrementally. I have also found that situations and trials in my life enable me to perceive Truths that I didn’t see before.
The Psalmist understood that he needed God’s help to understand God’s Word. Indeed, we also need God’s help.
