In this daily Bible reading is the account of Solomon building his own house. It was very large (100’ X 75’) and made from the wood in Lebanon’s forest. It took 13 years to build his house. Whereas, it took seven years to build the Temple. Hiram of Tyre did all the bronze work for the Temple and for Solomon’s house. All artifacts were built with intricate design and much detail.
It seems that there were very skillful artisans in Solomon’s day, and mankind was very capable of building things. They were just as talented as people today; maybe even more so. They just did not have our technology.
These passages also tell us that Solomon himself built the golden artifacts for the temple: the altar, the table for the bread of presence, the lampstands, and the cups and snuffers. God had given Solomon many skills in addition to wisdom and knowledge.
