In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Thessalonian Church, “Do not grow weary in doing good.” The path to Salvation requires endurance, and it is not easy to sustain our spiritual strength. We need others to help and encourage us along the way. That is one of the main benefits of a Church environment. The Church has other believers with whom to speak about God’s Truths.
The Bible itself provides encouragement for the believer. I believe that reading the Bible daily is necessary to sustain our spiritual energy. The Bible encourages us and reminds us of how we should respond to our daily challenges. Certain passages from the Bible should be memorized so that they can be recalled during those times of trial or times when we might become discouraged.
The following passage is one that has helped me greatly: “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.” Knowing that God is in control and will work things out for my good is very comforting. It has the immediate effect of removing anxiety from me. I don’t know precisely how God will work things out. I just know that He will. He always does.
