In these passages is the account of Elisha warning the King of Israel about the location of the King of Aram and his army, so that Israel could avoid being ambushed. The King of Aram then sent an army with horses and chariots to surround the city of Dothan where Elisha lived.
The Aramaeans intended to take Elisha captive. Elisha’s servant warned Elisha. However, Elisha told him, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then, Elisha prayed to God to enable his servant to see God’s massive army of angels surrounding and protecting Elisha. God then blinded the Aramaeans so that they could not determine where they were.
This account gives us a glimpse of the spiritual world around us which we cannot see. God is in control of the spiritual world and uses it for His purposes. God uses the spiritual world to protect those who are His and to destroy evil at the appropriate time.
We need not fear for anything. Rather we need to trust God and give our lives to Him willingly. We then need to walk in obedience to God’s Word.
