In this daily Bible reading is the account of Solomon building the Temple, the House of the Lord. Solomon hired Hiram, King of Tyre, to provide the materials for the work.
Hiram was glad to help because King David had been his friend. Solomon told Hiram, “David, my father was unable to build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which surrounded him until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.”
Interestingly, the Bible says that Jesus will remain at the right hand of the Father until God puts his enemies ‘under the soles of His feet.’ Then Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom will be established on the Earth. I believe that Solomon’s kingdom was a foreshadowing of Jesus’ millennial kingdom. God gave Solomon ‘rest on every side.’ So it will be in Jesus’ kingdom. There will be rest on every side, and people will live in prosperity and in peace.
