In these passages is the account of David’s death. Before he died, David spoke to his son, Solomon who David made King of Israel. David told Solomon, “Be strong, therefore, show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the Lord your God to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the law of Moses, that you may succeed in all you do and wherever you turn.”

There are real and tangible benefits in obeying God and walking according to His Word, both now and eternally. True believers will succeed in all they undertake because they put their trust in God. Also, the things they undertake are in accordance with The Word of God.

This is crucial because God will not bless sinful pursuits. The Bible says that God will only bless things that He approves. The Bible says, “Delight in the Lord, and God will grant you the desires of your heart.” When you delight in the Lord, you will walk according to His Word.  The ‘desires of your heart’ will then be in accordance with the Word of God and be granted.
