In this daily Bible reading is the account of Ahijah, the Prophet, prophesying to King Jeroboam’s wife.  Ahijah prophesied the future removal of Israel from the land because of the sins they committed under King Jeroboam.

Jeroboam had made two golden calves for the people to worship, to prevent them from going to Jerusalem to worship. Jeroboam therefore caused Israel to turn away from God.

About 180 years later, in 722 BC, Israel was taken captive by the Assyrians and removed from the land. They were replaced by the Samaritans and never returned to the land.

Judah was removed by the Babylonians around 587 BC. However, they returned 70 years later. In 130 AD, Judah was again removed from the land for their disobedience to God.  This time the Romans removed them.

The Bible says that God will restore Israel to the land,  He is doing so as we speak. Israel was reestablished as a state in May 1948. Jews from around the world are returning to Israel.

The Bible also says that God will one day give them a new heart to worship God and believe in Jesus Christ. It is marvelous to witness these prophecies taking place in my lifetime.
