In these passages is the account of another of David’s sons trying to take the throne and replace David. Adonijah had gained a following, including David’s commander Joab and Abiathar the priest. However, David had vowed to Bathsheba that their son, Solomon, would become King.
God had previously told David that Solomon would become King of Israel. God orchestrated events to make it come to pass. Adonijah’s plan was defeated and Solomon became king. David fulfilled his vow and made Solomon King of Israel while David was still alive.
We can trust that all of God’s prophesies will be fulfilled. The Word of God tells us the future of Israel. The Bible says that Israel will be restored, and Jesus will return to be King of Israel. We can have full confidence that this will occur. Praise God!
