In these passages, Paul tells the people, “The word of the cross is to those who are perishing foolishness, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” This tells me that the Gospel message of Jesus Christ seems foolish to those who are following the pathway to destruction or Hell.
God’s plan for Salvation is not logical to the mind of man. However, the Bible says that the Gospel is ‘the power of God for salvation to all who believe.’ The key to remaining on the pathway to Heaven is to believe that what God says is Truth. Once we have this belief, then we can understand God’s Salvation plan. Further, we will believe what God tells us in his Word, the Bible. We will then continue on the right path.
We are not assured of our Salvation. However, we can have a healthy Hope that we will be saved. Paul said that the Gospel message is ‘the power of God for those who are being saved.’ He didn’t say it was the power of God for those who have been saved.
Our Salvation results from a life of sincerely striving to live according to the Word of God. It is not an easy journey. The Bible says, “It is difficult to be saved.” That should be our expectation as we progress on our pathway to Salvation. The Bible also says that we must ‘persevere to the end to be saved.’
