1 Chronicles 22:1-23:32

In this daily Bible reading is the account of King David charging his son, Solomon, to build a Temple to God. David had intended to build the Temple. However, God told David that David was not to build it because of the great wars David had waged and the blood that David had spilled during David’s life. This is a mystery to me because David’s wars were largely waged with God’s blessing and with God’s help.

Spilling blood seems to be very significant in the scheme of things. The Bible says that without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sin. That is why Israel was instructed through Moses to have animal sacrifices to atone for sin. The ultimate atonement for the sins of mankind was the shed blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Jesus’ shed blood covers or atones for our sins if we believe in Him.

Our belief or Faith must be evidenced by trusting Jesus. The Bible says that Jesus is the living Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God.  Therefore, our Faith is evidenced by living our lives according to the Bible’s guidance.  Hence, I believe that the Bible is essential for our Salvation.
