In this daily Bible reading the Apostle John continues to speak of the ‘end times’ vision given to him. Before the sounding of the seventh trumpet, John was shown two individuals. These individuals were characterized as God’s ‘witnesses.’ They will appear in Jerusalem and speak for God. They will prophesy for 42 months. Additionally, they will be given miraculous powers to inflict plagues upon the Earth; and they will be able to kill any person who tries to harm them. The world will hate them.
At the end of the 42 months a person who the Bible calls the ‘antichrist’ or ‘beast’ will kill the two ‘witnesses.’ They will lay in the open for three days. The world will celebrate and rejoice because the world hated God’s Truths spoken by these ‘witnesses.’ However, after three days God will raise the two ‘witnesses’ from the dead and take them back to Heaven. After they are taken to Heaven, the seventh trumpet of God will sound.
When this trumpet sounds, loud voices in Heaven will proclaim, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ: and He will reign forever.” At that moment Jesus will replace Satan as the spiritual ruler of the Earth.
The nations of the world will be enraged. Then, rebellion against God will be intensified. The Bible says that the world will resist this transfer of power. However, this resistance will be futile because God is more powerful than all the satanic forces in the universe.
