Revelation 1:1 – 20

The book of Revelation was written by the Apostle, John, while he was in exile on the island of Patmos. Jesus appeared to John and gave John the words contained in the book of Revelation. At the beginning of this book, Jesus tells John to write to the seven churches of Asia. Jesus gave John a visualization of seven stars and seven golden lampstands. Jesus said that the lampstands were the churches, and the stars were the angels of the seven churches.

Through Jesus’ words, we get a glimpse into the spiritual world around us. The Bible tells us that there is a myriad of angels around us in the world. These angels are invisible to us, but they can guide, protect, and influence us. The Bible also says that there are both good and bad angels here on the earth. The bad angels are also called demons. These are those who follow Satan.

The Bible tells us that in the distant past, Satan, one of God’s most powerful angels rebelled against God. One-third of all the angels followed Satan. However, God was more powerful than Satan. God defeated Satan and cast him and his followers to the Earth. The Bible says that Satan and his demons influence mankind to turn from God. However, God’s good angels provide a positive influence on mankind.
