In this Psalm the writer speaks of God protecting and guiding those who live rightly before Him. He also speaks of God guiding and disciplining those who trust in God. The writer says, “Blessed is the man whom Thou dost chastise, O Lord, and dost teach out of Thy law.” God is like a father who teaches and guides His children. He also disciplines His children when they do wrong or disobey Him.
Those who trust and believe in God realize that some of their hardships are due to sin in their lives. They perceive the linkage between sin and affliction. As a result, they are motivated turn from sin and live lives according to God’s Word, the Bible.
Living one’s life according to God’s Word is not easy to do because all people are tempted to sin. It takes conscious effort to resist temptations. Without God in our lives, it would be impossible to avoid sinning. Therefore, we must keep God in our lives by living according to His Word, the Bible.
