In these passages the writer expresses his despair and puzzlement at God’s seeming rejection of Israel. It appeared to the writer as if God had forsaken His covenant with David. God had told David that David’s lineage would be blessed. However, God was no longer blessing Israel. Israel had been conquered and dispersed. Israel was no longer held in high esteem.
There are times in our lives when things are not going well. Situations occur that produce pain and misery. Happiness departs, and we perceive God has left us.
During such times of misery, we may be tempted to turn away from God to solve our problems. However, we must never do this. We must never give up our Faith in God regardless of the situation in our lives.
The Bible says that God will never abandon us or forsake us. However, God will test us from time to time to see if our Faith in Him is genuine. He will indeed test our Faith. We must not fail these tests. We must endure the suffering. The Bible says, “He who endures until the end will be saved.”
