In this Psalm David writes, “Behold the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.” It is our fear of the Lord that puts us on the pathway to Salvation. It is our Hope in the Lord that keeps us on the pathway.
The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” When we understand that God will punish us for wrongdoing, we are motivated to obey Him. As we obey Him, we realize that our lives become better. We are then motivated to continue in obedience to God. However, that obedience can erode when we become comfortable in our lives.
Our motivation to continue in obeying God originates from having Hope for our Salvation. This Hope comes from learning about God’s Salvation plan for us. We learn about His plan when we read the Bible. We then become motivated to persevere in difficult times, so that we will remain on the pathway to Heaven.
