This Psalm identifies the world’s rebellion against God. The world in general does not want God to rule. It wants to go its own way, given over to sin. However, God does rule, and Jesus is returning to be King of the world.
The Bible says when Jesus returns, He will rule with a “rod of iron.” He will be a no–nonsense King. People will be obedient, or they will be punished. Jesus will not tolerate sin anymore.
It appears that Jesus will be ‘weeding the garden,’ so that the world will be populated with people that desire God to rule over them. Indeed, the world will become a good place to reside for those who are God’s people.
