In this Psalm, as in many, David speaks to God. David writes, “Thou wilt make known to me the path of life.” There are two paths in our worldly existence. One path will lead us to death. One path will lead us to life. I am speaking of spiritual death and spiritual life. Spiritual death is our soul living eternally in Hell. Spiritual life is our soul living eternally in Heaven with God. One path leads to misery, and one path leads to joy.
I ask myself, why would anyone choose to walk the path that leads to death? The answer is that they don’t realize that their life and their choices are leading them to spiritual death. They don’t believe in God, and they are given over to their sinful tendencies.
Belief in God is essential to walking the path that leads to Heaven. The Bible says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.” Belief in God will start us down the path to life. On this path, God will lead us to believe in His Son Jesus Christ. Belief in Jesus is essential for one to be allowed into Heaven after they die.
