This wonderful Psalm of David is one of my favorites. In it David speaks of how well God knows us. God created each of us for His purpose. He knows in detail the lives we will lead.
David writes, “O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me. Thou dost know when I sit down and when I rise up. Thou dost understand my thoughts from afar. Thou dost scrutinize my paths and my lying down and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold O Lord, Thou dost know it all.”
God also knows how we will live our lives. David further writes, “In this book they were all written. The days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.”
Many people in this world think that our lives are a series of chance occurrences, that events are random in our lives. However, they are not random. Things happen according to God’s purpose and direction as God shapes us to be the people He wants us to become.
Knowing that God is in control of my life and has a purpose for me gives me great comfort and joy. I know I can trust God to lead me in the right direction. I just have to follow his leading.
