This Psalm speaks of the world persecuting and trying to destroy Israel. The writer says, “Let Israel now say, many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; yet they have not prevailed against me.”
Since God created Israel to set apart a people for Himself, Satan has been orchestrating events to destroy Israel. The Bible’s says that Satan is the spiritual ruler of the world. Satan is given over to sin. Therefore, the world is given over to sin. Unfortunately, God cannot be close to sinful people for God is Holy. God is pure.
However, God wants to be close to mankind. So, He created a people with which he could be close. He created Israel. Satan hates Israel. The world hates Israel. Therefore, the world continues to harass and persecute Israel.
Jesus, who is God the Son, was born a man into Israel. Jesus was free of sin. God sacrificed Him for our sins. Jesus’ shed blood atoned for our sins. Those who believe in Jesus are forgiven their sins. They are then suitable to live with God.
One day soon, Jesus will return. He will destroy all who are given over to sin. However, those who believe in Jesus will be allowed to remain and be in God’s presence forever.
