In these passages David says the following to God: “Establish Thy Word to Thy servant, as that which produces reverence for Thee.” Revering and praising God is probably our greatest expression of love for God. However, it doesn’t come naturally. It must be cultivated.
God is worthy of praise and reverence because of who He is and what He has done for us. God is awesome. He is mighty, just, kind, true, righteous, holy, merciful, patient, and faithful. God is all things right, good and true. He created this universe and all that is in it. He created this world and all that is in it, and God created each one of us.
We cannot and will not praise God until we understand who He is and what He has done for us. This understanding can only be gained by reading the Bible, the Word of God. The Word of God must become a part of us. It must be integrated into our lives. If we read and digest it daily, it will become a part of us. God will then give us wisdom, understanding, and knowledge that we may obey Him and revere Him. That is a good thing which will lead to many blessings in our lives and our hopeful entry into Heaven after we die.
