In these passages the Psalmist speaks of God remaining faithful to Israel despite Israel not remaining faithful to God. Israel was fickle in its belief and turned from God many times throughout the centuries. However, God still considers Israel to be His ‘chosen people.’
The Psalmist also speaks of the importance of justice and righteousness. He says, “How blessed are those who keep justice, who practice righteousness at all times.” Israel had turned away from these virtues. When Israel turned away from God, justice and righteousness were absent. Their leadership was not just, and the people practiced sin. They did not live rightly before God.
Time and time again God would bring Israel back to Him. When Israel turned back to God they once again lived rightly before God, and God blessed Israel.
America today is following a similar path. America is no longer characterized by justice and righteousness. America has turned from God, and God has removed many of His blessings. I believe America will continue to degrade. I fear that America will degrade to the point of destruction. Just as God destroyed Israel, He may well destroy America, unless America turns back to God.
