This Proverb says, “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing for your body and refreshment for your bones.” The Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom can only be gained through belief in God. God grants wisdom.

However, as this Proverb indicates, we should never think of ourselves as being wise. That would be prideful, and God hates pride. We should rather be grateful with whatever wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that God has granted us. We should then apply these gifts from God with humility and diligence.

The main point of this Proverb is that we should first apply God’s gift of wisdom by turning away from evil and living by the Word of God. Turning away from evil will result in good physical and mental health.

Obeying God according to His Word will result in many benefits during our life here on the Earth. More importantly, it will result in our being allowed into Heaven after we die and enjoying eternity in paradise with God.
