This Proverb says, “The Lord by wisdom founded the Earth; by understanding He established the heavens. By His knowledge the deeps were broken up, and the skies drip with dew.” Elsewhere the Bible says, “By wisdom a house is built; Through understanding it is established; And through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
We should consider how a house compares to the Earth. When one builds a house or home, he or she considers where and how to build the house. The structure of a home is important to the well-being, health, and safety of the occupants. Therefore one must be wise in understanding the needs of the occupants so that the house will be well built. In a similar way, the earth is where all living creatures reside. When the Lord created the Earth He applied His wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in providing for the needs of all of His creatures. He provided many habitats that would accommodate all animals, birds, fish and insects.
However, He did not build houses for mankind. Instead, God provided the materials necessary for mankind to build their own houses. The Lord enabled mankind to build proper habitation by giving men knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
The Bible says that God created mankind in His image. Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are integral of His image.
