This Proverb says, “Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.” Again, a fool is a person who does not believe in God. Therefore, they are given over to their sinful desires. They have no restraint. They have no motivation to change their ways and live a life that is wholesome and right.

This Proverb compares a fool to a dog which eats its own vomit. It is a rather disgusting picture. However, it is an apt description of a fool. It is an accurate description people who repeat their sins. It is an apt description of a person who has no restraint or self-control.

Unfortunately, the world is heavily populated with those who do not believe in God. The world is heavily populated with what the Bible calls fools. The world is also filled with people who have many afflictions and diseases.

The Bible says that there is a linkage between sin and afflictions. There are consequences for sin. Sexually transmitted diseases are a good example of this. Unfortunately, those who do not believe in God do not discern the linkage between sin and disease. Therefore they are not motivated to stop sinning. These people will continue down a destructive path. They will likely continue down the destructive path to their ultimate destination, Hell.
