This Proverb says, “Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; do not destroy his resting place. For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.” A righteous person is one who believes in God and walks rightly in his life, living according to the Word of God. A wicked person rejects God and lives a life of self-indulgence and sin.

Being righteous doesn’t mean that life will be smooth sailing. The Bible says that a righteous person will have trials and setbacks. However, a righteous person trusts God to help them. As a result, God helps them through their trials. As this Proverb says, a righteous person may fall. However they will rise again and proceed with their life. They will gain spiritual strength with every fall and rise.

This is not so with a wicked person. The Bible says that a wicked person may have smooth sailing in their life of self-indulgence. However, they do not have the coping skills that a righteous person has. So, when they fall they may not rise again. Their own strength will not be sufficient to help them back on their feet.

It is far better to lead a righteous life. It may be difficult at times. However, it will produce the best results. More importantly living a righteous life will lead a person to Eternal Life in paradise.
