This Proverb says, “Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.” Who does the Bible characterize as a fool? The Bible says, “The fool says in his heart there is no God.” A fool openly rejects God and does not believe God exists.

Therefore, it follows that a fool would reject the Word of God, the Bible. A fool would reject the Truth and prefer falsehood. They would live their life on a rickety foundation which would not withstand the storms of life.

The Bible indicates that one cannot convince a fool that they are wrong. They will despise you for trying to give them the Truth. They will become very angry. I have personally witnessed this even in my own family.

The Bible says, “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet and turn and tear you to pieces.” In other words, there are some people with whom we should not share the Word of God. They will not be receptive to the Truth. Worse, they may become violently angry and seek to cause harm. We should rather share God’s precious Truth with those who are receptive. God will provide us with those opportunities.
