This Proverb says, “The sluggard says, there is a lion outside; I shall not be slain in the streets.” Those who do not believe in God live in fear. Because they do not believe in God they do not trust God for help or protection. They believe that things happen by random chance with no purpose.

This Proverb indicates that a person without God is fearful of perceived dangers that do not exist. This inhibits their ability to live with freedom and fullness.

This unreasonable fear was demonstrated during the COVID crisis. Many people wore masks unnecessarily, even outdoor where the risk of contracting COVID was minimal. I believe it provided a graphic illustration of those who do not believe in God.

Those who do not believe in God wore the masks and demanded others to do the same because of their overblown fear. Those who believe in God wore their masks out of courtesy for others. They wore masks to please others, not because of their own concern.

The same can be said of taking the COVID vaccine. Many took the vaccine out of fear. However many believers did not take the vaccine. They rather trusted in their immune system which God created.

It is far better to live one’s life trusting in God. God enables a person who believes to live fully, freely and courageously.
