This Proverb says, “A righteous man who walks in his integrity, how blessed are his sons after him.” A father has great influence over his sons. A father is a model or an example for his sons in how to live their lives. Young boys have no clue how to live, so they copy their fathers. As these boys grow they are exposed to other boys who also influence them. However, a father’s influence is stronger.

If a father has bad values and leads a sinful life, his boys will also have bad values. They will likely copy their father’s sinful behavior into their adulthood. This will lead to their destruction.

The Bible says that ‘the sins of the father are visited on the children to the third or fourth generations.’ A sinful father’s sons will be unlikely to turn their lives from sin, especially if they are not motivated to do so.

On the other hand, a righteous father who lives his life according to the Word of God will have children whose lives will be blessed. A righteous man’s children will learn to make good choices in their lives. They will turn from sin and live rightly before God. Their lives will indeed be blessed.

Therefore, if you are a father with sons, you have great responsibility. How you live your life will definitely influence your sons to do either good or bad. God will likely judge you for how you influenced your sons. Think about that.
