This Proverb says in part, “Bread obtained by falsehood is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.” Solomon is Speaking of what we would call ill-gotten gains or wealth that is gained through dishonorable methods. These methods may include cheating others or stealing. A person who gains their wealth in such a manner may certainly become wealthy. However, it is unlikely that this person will enjoy their wealth.

Becoming wealthy is one thing. Enjoying that wealth is quite another. There are many wealthy people in the world. However, I don’t believe that all of those wealthy people enjoy their wealth.

The Bible says that a person who fears the Lord, and walks rightly before Him will enjoy the ‘fruit of their hands.’ When a person lives in a manner that is pleasing to God, God will bless them. They will prosper. More importantly, they will enjoy God’s blessings. Their lives will be rich and full.

You may have heard the saying, ‘money cannot buy happiness.’ Happiness comes from God. It does not come from wealth. People who are happy because of their relationship with God will be that way whether they are rich or poor. Therefore, we should concentrate on our relationship with God. Then, we will prosper and enjoy our prosperity.
