This Proverb says, “The refining pot is for silver and the furnace is for gold, but the Lord tests the hearts.”

The Bible indicates that our Salvation is the result of a process of molding and shaping us during our life on Earth. Just as gold and silver are refined to remove impurities, we too are refined to remove our impurities. The Bible calls this process sanctification.

Our sanctification begins the moment we express our sincere belief in Jesus Christ. Our sincere belief is evidenced by our repentance.  When we sincerely desire to repent of our sins and follow the path of righteousness, God gives us His Holy Spirit to be within us and sanctify us.

The sanctification process can be painful at times, as God shapes us for citizenship in Heaven. However, we must not give up. We must keep our eye on the goal and persevere.

The Apostle Paul knew this and told the people, “Our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

Therefore, we must persevere in our trials and keep our Faith in Jesus Christ. We must not give up. The Bible says, “He who perseveres to the end will be saved.” Eternity in Heaven will be well worth our momentarily discomfort from time to time on Earth.
