This Proverb says, “He who has a crooked mind finds no good, and he who is perverted in his language falls into evil.”
I am amazed at the use of vulgarity in today’s world. As I was growing up in the 1950s, I occasionally heard some students use vulgar language. However, it was not the norm. And the degree of the vulgarity was not as it is today. Today, vulgarity is common in movies and in normal conversations. It is difficult to find a movie that is free of the worst kind of vulgarity.
I find such vulgarity in today’s world very offensive. I try to avoid situations where people use filthy language. However, it is getting more and more difficult to avoid.
The Bible indicates that God also finds vulgar language to be distasteful. The Apostle Paul told his fellow believers, “There must be no filthiness and silly talk or coarse jesting which is not fitting.”
Today’s Proverb indicates that the use of perverse language will make a person more receptive to evil in their lives. As they incorporate more and more filthy talk in their conversations, they become desensitized to sinful behavior. Their defenses against sin are weakened.
Therefore, if a person wants to live their lives according to the Word of God they must avoid filthy language. A person may have to choose a different group of friends. Doing so may help them to remain on the pathway of that leads to Heaven.
