This Proverb says, “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.”

America was once a righteous nation. It was created with God’s help and based its Constitution on Biblical principles. Evidence of this can be seen on American currency on which is stamped “In God we trust.” America was a compassionate nation, and its people were free. America’s courts were just and fair, and the country was stable. President Reagan once described America as a shining city on a hill. And so it was.

Unfortunately, America today is no longer a righteous nation. America has turned away from God and has become a sinful nation. In 1962 the Supreme Court of the United states banned prayer in schools. With that act, America officially rejected God. As a result, God has turned away from America, and has given it over to its sinful preferences.

America’s moral decay can be clearly seen in its out-of-control drug addiction. It can also be seen in the disintegration of families. Additionally, America’s courts are no longer just. Judges no longer rule fairly. Rather, they are politically motivated and self-seeking.

The Bible says that the moral decay of America will continue to get worse. America is no longer a shining city on the hill. Nations from around the world no longer hold America in high regard. Rather they hold America in disdain. Sin has indeed degraded America. As a result, America’s future looks bleak. The only remedy is to turn back to God and become a righteous nation again.
