This Proverb says, “He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, but he who pursues vain things lacks sense.” This Proverb indicates that success is the result of diligence. In ancient Israel everyone had land. The land was essential to their survival, as it was the source of their food. The land had to be tilled and planted to produce food. That required work and diligence. If a person didn’t properly work their land, they would have no food.
The Bible says that we reap what we sow. Those who sowed proper care for their land reaped abundant food. However, those who sowed to worthless fantasies rather than work went hungry.
The Bible indicates that God doesn’t want us to be lazy. He guides each one of us down our path in life, and He places opportunities and challenges before us. God wants us to embrace our opportunities and be diligent in overcoming our challenges. He wants us to put forth our best effort. God wants us to be diligent rather than lazy.
The Bible says, that ‘whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.’ If we approach life in that manner we will please God, and we will succeed. We will have rich and full lives; and, indeed, we will have plenty.
