This Proverb says, “A righteous man has regard for the life of his beast, but the compassion of the wicked is cruel.” As this Proverb indicates, the way a person treats animals they own is a revealing characteristic. A righteous person is compassionate and kind to their animals. Whereas, a wicked person is mean and cruel toward their animals.
A wicked person will try to hide their mean and cruel nature when dealing with other people. Because of this, other people may be deceived and are unaware of this person’s true nature. However, such a person will let down their guard around animals. This is because the animal cannot reveal the person’s true character.
Treatment of animals is but one indicator of a person’s true nature. Probably the most revealing characteristic of a person’s nature is their world view. In other words, what do they believe? Do they believe in God? Do they believe the Bible is Truth, or do they reject it as foolish advice for another age?
The Bible says that God does not want us to judge others. Each of us is on a journey through this life. People may come to believe in God and His Word at various points in their lives. However, it is crucial how a person believes at the end of their life here on Earth. That will determine whether they are truly righteous or they are wicked. That will determine their final destination, Heaven or Hell.
