This Proverb says, “The desire of the righteous is only good; But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.” A righteous person lives and breathes the Word of God. They live their lives by God’s guidance for them. As a result they desire things that God approves. They desire love, joy, peace, and patience in their lives. They also seek for kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. God will grant them these things.

Jesus said in His sermon on the mount, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall have their fill.” The Bible says, “Seek the Lord and his righteousness and God will you grant the desires of your heart.” This is because the desires of a righteous person’s heart are for the things that God approves.

On the other hand, a wicked person who rejects God and the Word of God desires things that are not good. A wicked person is given to sin. Therefore, they should expect God’s judgment and wrath in their lives. A wicked person’s life will be miserable. Worse, they will experience God’s eternal wrath as they will spend eternity in Hell after they die.

Therefore, if we want goodness and eternal joy we must pursue righteousness. We must live our lives in accordance with God’s Word, the Bible.
