This Proverb says, “The perverse in heart are an abomination to the Lord, but the blameless in their walk are His delight. Assuredly an evil man will not go unpunished, but the descendants of the righteous will be delivered.”
Those who walk rightly before God delight in Him. God loves the righteous person. However, He rejects those who reject Him. A righteous person loves God and demonstrates that love by living their life according to God’s Word, the Bible.
However, the perverse in heart reject God and His Word. Instead, they pursue their own sinful gratification. They reject God because they don’t want to be accountable for their sins. Therefore, God will reject them, and they will experience dire consequences for their behavior.
This Proverb also indicates that the descendants of a righteous person will be delivered. A righteous person’s descendants are aware of this person’s belief in God, and they witness his or her obedience to God. They are also aware of God’s blessings for this righteous person.
A righteous person’s children may pursue the temporary pleasures of sin for a period. However, when the inevitable hardships come, they will remember God’s blessings for their parent. They will then be motivated to turn to God, and God will deliver them from their plight.
God will guide a righteous person’s descendants to a life that will please God. Such will be the fruit of a righteous person’s life. Such will be a righteous person’s reward.
