This Proverb says, “The wicked loves deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness gets a true reward. He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain life, and he who pursues evil will bring about his own death.”

This Proverb is speaking about spiritual life and spiritual death. Spiritual life and death are eternal whereas physical life is temporary. Eternal life is the reward of living one’s physical life rightly before God. Whereas, spiritual death is the consequence of pursuing evil during one’s physical life.

A wicked person who is given to a sinful life may become wealthy and have many possessions during their life on Earth. However, such wealth is deceptive. It is not true wealth, and it won’t last.

On the other hand, a righteous person gains true wealth through his or her obedience to God. Such a person stores up Heavenly treasure that will last forever.

The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Therefore, we must pursue righteousness during our life here on Earth. We must love God and place our trust in Jesus Christ who is the living Word of God. This means living our lives with the Bible guiding our thoughts, words, and deeds. Then we will have true life. We will have eternal life.
