This Proverb says, “Blessings are on the head of the righteous. But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.” Living rightly before God results in many good things or blessings in a person’s life. Additionally, a righteous person’s memory will be blessed primarily through his or her offspring. The offspring or posterity of the righteous person will likely also live rightly before God.
Psalm 37: 37-39 also confirms this when it says, “For the man of peace will have a posterity. But transgressors will be altogether destroyed. The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.” As today’s Proverb says, “The name of the wicked will rot.”
Therefore, as we live our lives here on the Earth we should consider our legacy. We should consider how our choices will affect others around us. Additionally, we should consider how our choices will affect our future generations.
Being righteous or living rightly before God through God’s Word, the Bible, will be a more difficult path to take through life. However, the benefits of doing so are innumerable and eternal. It is truly the right choice to make.
