This Proverb says, “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. Hatred stirs up strife but love covers all transgressions.” A righteous person is one who chooses his or her words carefully and only speaks words that will encourage and comfort others. A righteous person’s words will enhance another person’s life by giving them hope and encouragement.

On the other hand, a wicked person deceives and lies. A wicked person will commit violent acts and then use deceptive words to cover their deeds.

Bible says that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our attitude toward others should be to help and encourage them. Situations will present themselves where there are opportunities to speak encouraging words to others. It will be helpful if our speech is well-grounded in God’s Word, the Bible.

Jesus said that our words to others should be seasoned with salt. Jesus is referring to the salt of God’s Word. Therefore, we must be well anchored in the Bible to have such words. Well placed words from the Bible will indeed be a fountain of life to others.
